Tigris Joseph
Tigris completed her BSc in Combined Honours Mathematics and Physics and her MSc in Medical Physics at the University of British Columbia. She is currently pursuing her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Robertson and Dr. Cornelia Laule, where her research focuses on applying advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques in spine radiation therapy.
One aspect of her work aims to quantify the performance of MRI metal artifact reduction techniques in people with spinal implants, with the goal of identifying optimal methods to improve image quality for radiation treatment planning. Her second research project explores the use of quantitative MRI to better assess the health of spinal cord tissue after radiation therapy for spine metastases.
In addition to her research, Tigris works as a physics assistant, where she helps implementing and automating MRI quality assurance tests. Outside of her academic work, she enjoys climbing, hiking, and spending time in the mountains.
