Dr. Jakob Marshall
Jakob completed his bachelor’s degree in physics an hour down the road from his hometown at UBC Okanagan in Kelowna. Drawn to the breadth and impact of Medical Physics, he continued at UBC Okanagan, obtaining his master’s degree in 2022 with his thesis work developing an algorithm to find optimal radiation beam orientations for trajectory‑based VMAT. Jakob then continued his studies at UBC Vancouver, working under the supervision of Dr. Steven Thomas. His PhD research focused on better understanding and accounting for cardiac- and respiratory‑induced motion with applications to cardiac radioablation. Outside of work, Jakob enjoys taking in Vancouver’s scenic oceanfront while cycling or running, and playing sports with friends—especially on the golf course.
