Arash Javanmardi, PhD Student

Arash completed his BSc (Honours) in Biophysics at the University of British Columbia and his MSc in Medical Physics at Toronto Metropolitan University. He has a diverse research background spanning from the development of 3D-printed PET phantoms to the detection of nanobubbles in cancer cell lines using optical coherence tomography. Arash is currently pursuing research under the supervision of Dr. Hal Clark at BC Cancer Surrey, where he focuses on biology-guided radiation therapy (BgRT) to mitigate xerostomia in head and neck cancer patients. His work involves the use of advanced diffusion MRI models to investigate changes in the physiology of the parotid glands throughout the course of radiation therapy. Outside the lab, Arash enjoys hiking on the North Shore mountains and running at Mundy Park. He also organizes intramural sports leagues with friends and can often be found playing beach volleyball at Spanish Banks during the summer.
