Dr. Hervé Choi

Hervé Choi (PhD, MCCPM) is a Medical Physicist at BC Cancer Vancouver. Dr Choi completed his doctorate in experimental particle physics at the University of Victoria. After his graduation, he went to Hong Kong and worked there as a medical physicist for almost eight years.

Dr Choi joined the Vancouver team in 2021. His clinical responsibilities include intracranial stereotactic treatments, low-dose-rate prostate brachytherapy, CBCT-based online adaptive radiotherapy, biological effective dose calculations in retreatments and the implementation of autosegmentation. He is currently the facilitator of the Provincial Physics Forum, where clinical medical physicists from around the province meet once every four weeks to discuss emerging topics from their centre.

Dr Choi is one of the co-leads for a Community of Practice in COMP on the integration of foreign-trained physicists in Canada.

In his personal life, Dr Choi is feared among his friends for his extreme openness to exotic foods, a significant portion of which his companions cannot stomach. He is proud to have completed all the Russian lessons in Duolingo, but is ashamed to admit that he struggles to hold a 30-second conversation at his neighbourhood Russian grocery store.
