Radiomics
Radiotherapy is prescribed by radiation oncologists generally based on the appreciable extent of the disease in diagnostic and imaging tests, availability of alternative treatment modalities, and the patient’s overall health status. However, there may be other factors that can contribute to the treatment outcome.
One of the burgeoning fields in precision radiotherapy is radiomics, which is using subtle imaging biomarkers indiscernible to a human eye for prognostification. This, combined with other clinical data, can help further individualize treatment strategies, ultimately benefiting the patients with their unique circumstances.
