Justin Poon
Justin completed his BSc (Hons) in Biophysics and an MSc in Medical Physics at the University of British Columbia. He is currently a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Steven Thomas and his research is focused on cardiac radiosurgery, a non-invasive treatment modality for ventricular tachycardia. Justin has been working on the development of a Cardiac Synchronized VMAT (CSVMAT) treatment technique, which aims to increase cardiac radiosurgery precision by treating during the quiescent intervals of the cardiac cycle, minimizing radiation delivered to healthy heart tissue and adjacent organs. He is also using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) cine images to assess left ventricle myocardial motion, with the purpose of establishing region-specific margin guidelines for cardiac radiosurgery and optimal treatment window determination for CSVMAT.
